On the 28th October 2010, at their 25th annual conference in Badagry, the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) gave Ade Alakija a post humous award for his contribution to fish farming in Nigeria. Willy Fleuren received the award on behalf of Durante and Ade's family. Also present were Ade's father, Ogie, his sister, Teju and Gbenga Olude, the Hatcheries Manager.
The outgoing President of FISON, Deaconess Foluke Areola presented the award to Willy Fleuren and told the approximately 200 members present that : "We will never forget our beloved Ade's contribution to fish farming in Nigeria". A minute of silence was observed in his memory and the citation below was read out.
